Imaginary character Tiku & his Aide,
who Keeps Saying Abracadabra, Out to give Vaccination a Push

He can change a paper into an umbrella. And soon after make a smaller umbrella pop out of the first umbrella. That's not all. He can tell you how to save infants from various diseases, as if by magic.
This is how the state branch of Unicef, in collaboration with the State Health Society, Bihar, is spreading awareness about immunisation.
The international body and the society have come up with an imaginary character, Tiku (inspired by the Hindi word tikakaran,which means vaccination) who mingles with the masses in this endeavour to ensure more and more people get the benefits of vaccination.
This is roughly how they go about it. A decorated van screeches to a halt near a crowded place in Patna. A person who looks like he has jumped out of a cartoon show emerges from the van. He is Tiku. He tells people about the availability of various vaccines that can save infants from various diseases. Read more
